The Shoot

Pregnancy shoot is usually between 2-3 hours. I like to take the photographs at around 36 weeks when your belly is beautiful and round but you’re not too close to your due date. I love photographing pregnant women outside, the venue is completely up to you however if you’d like to enjoy the comfort and privacy of your home I’m more than happy to come to you. Simplicity and comfort is the key is choosing what to wear. Stretchy fabrics, jeans, black tops, linen shirts.

Birth…. Who would pass up the opportunity of welcoming a baby into the world? What an honour. The time of the birth of our babies is one of the very few events in life that we don’t have any control over. The day, time…. I’ll work around it to the best of my ability. Your expectations will be thoroughly discussed prior to the birth. I am currently working on an exhibition and a book on homebirth called ‘In Awe of Woman’. If you are planning a homebirth and would love to be an integral part of changing the cultural norm of where we birth I would love to hear from you.

Newborns are yet to live in a world revolving around time. We take however long it takes! Every moment is an opportunity for a photo. A magical sleeping moment, a cuddle, a cry, a beautiful tender moment breastfeeding. Newborns are best photographed within the first few weeks of life. They are still so tiny, flexible and not so aware of their surroundings. Once again, simplicity and comfort is the key is choosing what to wear. Jeans, black or white tops. Babies photograph beautifully with a simple singlet or nothing at all, that way we can capture their beautiful chubby rolls. I will bring a few props with me. Some beautiful fabrics, soft blankets. If you have anything special you would like to include in the photos (a beautiful bonnet, a special teddy bear, a hand knitted rug) we can work out a way to use it.
